Muñoz ( [muˈɲoθ] or [muˈɲos]) is a Spanish-language surname—with a Portuguese-language variant ( Munhoz), from Basque "muinoa" (Hill), the surname got expanded during the Reconquista with massive settlements done by citizens from Navarre and Álava in New Castile and Andalusia.
